IN COLLABORATION WITH AMBRITA SHAHANI TUCKWELL

A console handmade from recycled Burma teak, this piece represents a moment frozen in time through the radial distribution of pressed flowers. The console is lightly carved with the flowers’ prints as well, to give the impression of a fossil created by having them pressed for an extended period of time.

The form is generated by cutting and rotating a 2D plan, to create a structurally stable three-dimensional form. Once the flowers are placed -- each one painstakingly adhered to the wood with concentrated resin, before spraying on numerous layers of lacquer -- the final result is a high-gloss finish that has the flowers pressed for eternity.
